 SmartPlanet has named the top 20 most common passwords... numero uno is '123456', with the more creative password of '654321' coming in at number 19. If any of your passwords appear in this top 20, change them! If they don't, I advise checking them against some simple guidelines to see how they measure up. I admit I had to change a few of mine once I started auditing my accounts. Microsoft's tips for a solid password - DON'T use your name, or personal information - DON'T use any part of your email - DON'T use any of the passwords from the list I just mentioned! - DO use a combination of letters, numbers and symbols - DO make your password longer than 8 characters - at least! - DO test your password with a password checker These suggestions are in place for a reason - in December 32 million usernames and passwords were breached on photo sharing site RockYou.com.
